9-11 Literature Review

The article “Inside the Four Flights” explains how each hijacker got through airport security with no problems and gives some detail on the terrorist actions that were partaking in the air crafts. At each security check point the hijackers walked through a metal detector, were hand wand detected, and all their belongings went through an x-ray machine detector. Each plane had five hijackers with flight 93 only reporting to have four. Airport security said there was nothing out of the ordinary, actually most of them don’t even remember checking them or thinking anything was suspicious about anyone. On every flight that was hijacked no one knows how the hijackers got into the cockpits of the four air crafts. 911 calls reported that on American Airlines flight 11 that one man was injured from having his throat being slit and two flight attendants were reported to have been stabbed. The hijackers told everyone to be quiet that they had a bomb and they used mace and pepper spray to gain control over passengers in the air crafts. On United airlines flight 175 one passenger and one flight attendant was reported stabbed. On American Airlines flight 77 hijackers were reported to have box cutters and moved all passengers to the rear of the plane, but there was no mention of knives or mace in this aircraft. In flight 93, passengers were recorded to have said that several people have made calls about the hijacking and had learned of the previous attacks on the twin towers. Passengers said that the hijackers did not seem to care much that they were making phone calls, I guess because they knew it wouldn’t matter anyways.

In the article “9/11 Theories of Conspiracies,” provides a small argument about if bombs were placed in the twin towers or not; and if the government had anything to do with the September eleventh attacks. Many people, in fact, 1/3 of people polled believe that the U.S. government had some part in the 9/11 attacks. These people believe that our government conducted an inside job to justify our military actions in a way to conduct a type of world domination. Some people claim that the planes alone were not able to bring the twin towers down that a controlled demolition using pre-implanted bombs is what caused the towers to collapse. One expert claims that from evidence in the rubble that bombs had to have been in the twin towers, because from the pieces in the rubble the building endured high levels of heat that a plane's fuels could not generate alone. Some, however; go against this theory and say that bombs could not be implanted in such a high security building with out there being at least one witness, I guess that gives us even a more reason to think that government officials had something to do with this, because we couldn’t imagine someone that did not have a lot of connections could implant bombs without a word being said. Just because someone doesn’t see it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen!

Kevin Barrett a part-time teacher for an Islamic class is the speaker of this lecture. He states that after two years of rigorous research and study that he has come to the conclusion that September 11, 2001 was in fact an inside job by our United States Government. He said the attacks were contrived through military superpowers feting on the possibility of going to war. Scientist have concluded that the rubble on ground zero could have only happened because of explosives and not solely the planes crashing into the buildings. This had to be a controlled demolition. Hijackers of the 9/11 planes are said to be a broad network of terrorist sponsored by the United States government and their Western allies. He's teaching is not to make his students believe that his way is the only way, he just wants to inform them on the possibilities and maybe test their knowledge through a few argumentative essay questions.

The article "Conspiracy 101," explains many different conspiracy theories throughout history such as the assassination of JFK, and of course the 9/11 conspiracy theory. It says the twin towers fall completely straight down and that just might be the first time ever in history that has happened. Witnesses have reports of explosions, and some even believe that the planes might have fired missiles as well. Another thing most people don't know about is world trade center tower number seven fell eight hours after the other two towers fell. This building fell straight down just as the twin towers did, however, it was not hit by a plane; therefore, bombs must have been implanted. Flight 93 was said to be shot down by military officials and some even think that it may have landed in Cleveland, but I think that is irrelevant to the point. Other conspiracies also point the finger to the U.S. Government, if so many events seem to be blamed on the government then they must be doing something that is not ethical according to our cultural views.
· Grossman, L. (2006, September 11). Why the 9/11 Conspiracy Won't Go Away. Time, 168, 11., pp. 46-48. In this article the 9/11 conspiracy theory is explained and questioned. Psychological experts say that with any traumatic event there is bound to be a conspiracy theory that because the 9/11 attacks were witness by so many people but little is know about the details of the attacks it makes it a glue for conspiracy theories. Psychologists say that conspiracy theories are a way of mourning in our country. The theorist in the article explain that the puffs of smoke from the twin towers is only the result of explosions and that Al Qaeda is not responsible for the attacks. It claims that the Pentagon was not hit by a jet but a cruise missile, but why are there so many witnesses of a plane flying into the building. This article claims that flight 93 was shot down my U.S. air force jet. There is a video mention several times in which this author gets his information called “loose change,” I plan to try to find it and watch it to get more information. Another shocking detail is that 36% of Americans claim to believe that the government either knew about the attacks and let them happen or conducted them their selves.

Two crashed into the twin towers, one into the Pentagon, and on in an open field in Pennsylvania after passengers had stormed the cockpit. Another building that most people don't know about also collapsed, World Trade Center building 7. The media claimed that the attacks were brought out by Al Queda with Osama Bin Laden as the leader. On the other side of things, the World Trade Centers were claimed to have been a controlled demolition because the buildings couldn't have collapsed straight down as they did if bombs were not implanted in the buildings. As for the Pentagon, FBI agents will not show security camera footage of the attacks. Some theorist believe that this might be because the Pentagon might have been hit by a missile other than a plane, and no parts associated with a plane having had crashed into the building were found. Flight 93 was to have said to have actually been shot down by a U.S. fighter jet. Witnesses claim that a white jet was seen in the area soon after the crash, and argument of the actual crash time is another issue. Donald Rumsfield said him self that the plane was shot down, but someone later claimed that he has "miss spoken". Another thing that is hard for conspiracies to believe is the amount of successful phone calls by the people in the planes. There was a total of 13 passengers that made a total of thirty calls to both emergency and family, a 2003 Canadian study shows that the success rate could not have been that high at such a high altitude. The article then goes on to talk about the war on terrorism and how Bush decides to go to Iraq, when Iraq supposedly had nothing to do with the attacks. It all boils down to the ability to take over the world, addiction to oil, and money; which all describes George Bush.

Why would the media hide this from us? Is there something that happened in those three minutes that the government doesn't want us to know? Conspirators believe that the plane was shot down by military officials. What are the signs of cover up? Every plane has an indestructible black box that recorders everything that goes on in the plane two were found at the world trade centers, but the 9-11 commission denies they were ever found. Officials who were said to have "failed" were given promotions.

9-11 Proposal
Most people remember exactly where they were and what they were doing on the day America was attacked on September 11, 2001. From what the media tells us 9-11 was a day of ruthless terrorist attacks by a terrorist organization by the name of Al-Qaeda. No one knows for sure every detail of the attacks that day nor do we really know who really did it and why. The most common story is that there were four separate planes hijacked by Al-Qaeda; one in which struck the U.S Pentagon, two in which hit each one of the Twin Towers, and one that was said to be headed to the white house but was brought down in Pennsylvania due to passengers fighting back. Some people, however; do not know that there is another theory, one that involves an inside job by are own government. As no American would want to believe that are own government could have done something so ruthless to us, it could very well be a reason; and because this is a theory it is based on facts, however; it is not able to be proven completely true just as the story the media has portrayed. The theory is that government officials somehow planed an inside job to run the planes into the world trade centers and implant bombs so it would appear as a terrorist attack. Of course this sounds like it could really be a terrorist attack, but what discourage theorists is that the media denies there was ever bombs implanted and that the buildings did not fall due to controlled demolition, but scientist say that the buildings couldn’t have collapsed straight down as they did just by the affect of the two planes crashing into them. Another thing that most people don’t know is that there was a smaller building about 47 stories tall beside the twin towers that also fell, but did not fall till around five o’clock in the afternoon that day. How did this building fall just as the twin towers did eight hours later if this wasn’t a controlled demolition and why would the media keep this from us? When the pentagon was hit, it was hit in a spot that was under construction where few workers were, it doesn’t seem to these theorists that this was by accident. One of the biggest pieces of evidence that supports this theory is found in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where flight 93 crashed. The media says the plane had just crashed, but theorist of this conspiracy believe that the plane was actually shot down by military officials. When the scene was investigated there were no big pieces of material left from the plane. Scientist say that when a plane just crashes there is usually massive pieces found and usually some bodies; but no bodies were found and the plane was completely demolished which leads people to think it must have been shot down. What theory is true? Will we ever know? Could September 11, 2001 been an inside attack by our own U.S. Government as an excuse to go to war, or was the media telling the truth, was this the work of Al-Qaeda and the middle east?
